Girls STEAM encourages girls to maintain an interest in science, technology, engineering, arts and math. The program invites women in the STEAM field to share their career journeys and offer empowering messages for middle and high school students.
For the month of September, Hatboro-Horsham Education Foundation (HHEF) kicked off Girls STEAM with a special guest. Janelle Benjamin, an HH alumna was the featured guest speaker. Benjamin is the COO and Co-Founder of SuperData Research.
SuperData Research offers market intelligence in the video-gaming industry. SuperData helps customers understand what people play and watch. With the data collected SuperData helps guide companies on the right path to success.
Janelle and her husband Joost created SuperData from the ground up. SuperData was founded in 2009, and with a small team, Janelle and Joost got their business running.
Janelle had another business before SuperData that ended up failing. That failure did not stop Janelle, she persevered as an entrepreneur and made her dreams become reality.
Due to Superdata’s success, Janelle was able to sell the company. Janelle and her husband still work with the company after the sale of SuperData.
HHEF invited Janelle and Stephanie Llams, VP of Strategy and Head of XR, of SuperData into Keith Valley middle school and Hatboro-Horsham High School to share their story.
Students were buzzing with excitement to talk to Janelle and Stephanie. Many questions were answered throughout the day especially about video games. Stephanie Yoder, Director of HHEF, said the students were enthusiastic and engaged in conversation with Janelle. She believed the topic of video games really sparked the students interest. Her goal is to keep bringing in speakers that really resonate with the students.
