HATBORO, PA
Pennypack Elementary School teacher, Sharon Mirabelli and Instructional Coach Christine Jenkins had the idea to bring Ozobots into every classroom at Pennypack. With the help of the Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation the idea came to life.
Ozobot is a little toy robot that blends the physical and digital worlds and teaches kids programming. Ozobot can identify lines, colors, and codes. Pennypack students grade kindergarten through second got to use their new Ozobot to travel through Hatboro.
When thinking of how to use their Ozobot for the lower grade levels the idea of GPS and traveling came to mind. Students then made a map from Pennypack Elementary School to York Road for the Ozobot to travel on lines of color to Hatboro Federal Savings.
Using specific colors the Ozobot can turn around, speed up, and slow down and do much more. Along with coding the students got to collaborate with each other building different parts of the map.
