Class of 2025 First Day of School with Link Crew 2021

HORSHAM, PA

September 21, 2021

On September 9, the Class of 2025 stepped into Hatboro-Horsham High School as the new incoming freshmen students. Hatboro-Horsham Link Crew students were there to welcome them with open arms.

The day started out with freshmen walking into their high school experience with a fun icebreaker assembly. After the assembly Link Crew Leaders broke off into groups with their freshmen cohort for more activities and a tour. About seven to eight freshmen are paired with two link crew leaders, one junior and one senior. Link Crew Leaders are there to support and guide freshmen through their first year of high school.

This is the 7th year the Link Crew Program has been running at Hatboro-Horsham High School. The program is run by advisors, Jim Shields and Karen Cassidy. Link Crew is a competitive program at the high school. Only junior and seniors can apply to apart of the Link Crew program through an application process. Jim Shields states, “We have seen freshmen classes come through and become link crew leaders themselves…seen that happen quiet a few times”.

Link Crew isn’t just a one day thing or only for the first week of school. The program lasts for the whole school year. Link Crew Leaders meet up with their cohort at least once a month to do fun activities such as bagel bash. Bagel bash is a breakfast for the freshmen students along with their Link Crew Leaders. Games are played along with a full spread of breakfast food. Upcoming events might include a football tailgate.

Link Crew Leaders get training over the summer to prepare for their incoming students. Along with their training there is also a Link Crew class that is offered through out the year. Link Crew Leaders take this class as more ways to grow and bond with their cohort.

If you are interested in joining Link Crew for the upcoming years you can contact Mr. Shields or Mrs. Cassidy about the application process.
